Practical Information

Date and Place of the School

The 21st European School of High-Energy Physics will be held 5-18 June 2013 in Parádfürdő, Hungary.

The lectures and discussion sessions will take place using the conference facilities of the Erzsébet Park Hotel where all of the participants will be accommodated.

The Erzsébet Park Hotel complex has numerous sports and leisure facilities that will be available to the participants, including free use of the wellness centre (swimming pools, saunas, jacuzzi and steam rooms). Facilities that will be available for a modest charge include bowling, pool tables and tennis courts.

Accommodation

The students, faculty and staff of the School will be lodged in the Erzsébet Park Hotel. Students will share twin rooms with toilets and shower rooms. Please note that the rooms will be allocated by the Organizers, mixing students of different nationalities.

A photograph of the hotel is shown below.

The lecture hall and the rooms for the discussion sessions are also situated in the complex.

Breakfast, lunch and evening meals will be served in a restaurant within the complex. There is a bar where participants will be able to purchase drinks in the evenings. Free wireless internet will be provided for all participants, but please note that the bandwith will be very limited and coverage may be restricted to certain public areas of the hotel.

Travel Arrangements

Students who are selected to attend the School should arrange to arrive in Parádfürdő for registration during the afternoon or evening of Wednesday 5 June. The school will end on the morning of Tuesday 18 June after breakfast. The organisers will provide bus transport from and to the airport in Budapest on the arrival and departure days; the timetable will be communicated to the participants in due course.

Cost

The cost of the School will be about 1600 Swiss Francs per student, and will cover tuition, board and lodging from dinner on Wednesday 5 June to breakfast on Tuesday 18 June 2013, as well as coffee, tea or cold drinks during the morning and afternoon breaks and some social activities. The fee does not include travel expenses from participants' home institutes to Parádfürdő and back.

For participants from some JINR Member States there may be special arrangements for paying the School Fee and for travel. For further information, please contact the JINR Organizing Secretary, Mrs. T.S. Donskova (see Enquires and Correspondence).

Details concerning the method of payment of the fee will be sent together with the acceptance letters.

Language

The working language of the School will be English. Participants must therefore have a good understanding of English to enable them to benefit from the School.

Proceedings

The School Proceedings will be published as a CERN Yellow Report in 2014. Each participant may receive one copy free of charge. Proceedings from earlier schools are available (see Previous Schools).
