School Bus to Herbeumont
Meeting point: The bus driver carrying a CERN Physics School sign will wait from about 17.45 to 18.00 at the Arrival Level close to the lift which serves the different levels and the restaurants.

Wireless Connection:
There will be free wireless connection everywhere in the hotel except in the rooms

Hotel: room towels are provided, but please take a towel for swimming (large indoor swimmimg pool)

Laundry: Automatic washing machines are available (coins needed).

Date and Place of the School ^

The 2008 European School of High-Energy will be held from June 8 to June 21, 2008 in Herbeumont-sur-Semois, Belgium. The lectures will be given in Eurovillage Ardennes "Les Fourches" which is a hotel/vacation resort which also provides conference facilities.
Eurovillage is located in Herbeumont, a picturesque village 25 km from Bouillon, 80 km from Luxemburg and 130 km from Liège.

Eurovillage Les Fourches (14 ha) is situated on a hilltop overlooking the valley of the Semois in the middle of extending woods.
Numerous activities are offered free of charge: covered swimming pool, 2 tennis courts, table tennis, climbing wall, volleyball, mini-golf, archery, badminton, basketball, petanque, playground. Walks and tourist trails. With participation: mountain biking, kayak, karting, golf.

The registration will take place from 6.00 p.m. on Sunday 8 June in the hotel lobby. The first meal will be dinner on Sunday evening. Departure will be after breakfast on Saturday 21 June.

Poster Session
Students are encouraged to present their current research work in the form of a special poster session which is planned for Thursday 12 June. These posters should, if possible, be prepared before arriving at the School.
Please note that for the School we will ONLY have a slow InkJet A4 printer for the daily office work, and no other printer is available.

Computer Connections
There is a wireless access in some rooms. There will also be a computer room with a limited number of PCs which can be used during the free time.

>Social Programme ^

A welcome drink will be served on Monday 9 June and a farewell banquet on Friday 20 June.
On Saturday 14 June there will be a one-day excursion to Brussels with sightseeing and a guided tour through the town in addition to free time.
Also during the free afternoons (Wednesday 11 and Wednesday 18) excursions are planned.

“School Bus”
You may like to benefit from the transportation the School will organize from Brussels airport to Herbeumont on Sunday 8 June (two buses)
Students interested should register via email to physics.school@cern.ch
The seats will be given on a first come first served basis. Once a bus is full we will put you on the other one (it is too early to give you the schedule)
We will charge 12 euros per person one way (money will be collected during the School). 
Details on schedule and meeting point will be advertised on this page later on.
We will also organize a “school bus” from Herbeumont to Brussels on Saturday 21 June.
The bus will leave the Hotel just after breakfast. Thus, when possible please look for a departure from Brussels not early in the morning.

Students wishing to organize their own travel, should arrive at the Hotel for registration during the afternoon or evening of Sunday, June 8.

The nearest international airports are Brussels, 135 km or Luxemburg, 85 Km.
There is also an airport "Charleroi/ Brussels South" (150 km) which is used by low-cost companies.

How to get from airport to town:
From Brussels National airport:
there are 4 "Brussels Airport Express" trains per hour to Brussels North Station (railway station - Nord-Noord).

From Brussels to Herbeumont (see below chapter Brussels-Herbeumont by train).
For information: the average Taxi rate from Airport to center Brussels is 35 euros.

For information: a guided tour of Brussels is included in the School Social programme.  A full day excursion in Brussels is planned on Saturday 14 June with a guided walk through the town in addition to free time.

From Charleroi airport (Brussels South):
a public bus (Line A) links all day long the Brussels South Charleroi Airport to the Charleroi-SUD Train station (every 1/2 hour). Then you can take the train to easily reach Namur (Liege direction) and then take the train to Libramont (Luxembourg direction) (see chapter Charleroi-Herbeumont by train).
Do not take the 'navette' to Brussels.
If you want to combine these two services when you arrive in the airport you can buy a "bulk" ticket at the Airport Disket desk in the Charleroi Airport. For 10 euros one-way, you can use the public bus (Line A) and the train to reach any train station in Belgium.

 From Luxembourg Airport:
there is a bus service between Luxembourg Airport and Luxembourg City – route 16 (more information under www.autobus.lu).

Going to Herbeumont by train:
Information about trains in Belgium can be found here.
The closest train station is Bertrix while the nearest "main" train station is Libramont (i.e. to arrive in Bertrix you must change the train in Libramont.)
Libramont train station is on the Brussels - Luxembourg train line (1 train/hour)
Bertrix train station is on the Libramont-Dinant-Virton train line.

N.B. Free shuttle transportation from Bertrix train station to the hotel in Herbeumont will be organized on Sunday 8 June.

GOING TO HERBEUMONT BY CAR
Herbeumont is located between Bouillon, Florenville and Neufchâteau.
If you come from Brussels, take the E411-A4, direction Namur-Arlon, exit 25, turn right, N89, direction Fays-les-Veneurs, Bertrix, Herbeumont.
