  • I highly recommend the following text. Although it is generally about field theory, it covers many aspects of perturbative QCD. It is therefore a self-contained treatment of QCD and the necessary preliminaries. It is also an excellent exposition, beautifully presented.
    AUTHOR Peskin, Michael Edward, 1951-
TITLE Introduction to quantum field theory / Michael E. Peskin, Daniel V. Schroeder.
PUBLISHED Reading, Mass. : Addison-Wesley Pub. Co., c1995.
    ISBN/ISSN 0201503972.
    ISBN/ISSN 0201509342 (pbk.)
  • For students who have not had an introduction to field theory, the following text would be most useful. It captures the physics without getting bogged in the nasty technicalities of quantum field theory (eg, renormalization).
  • AUTHOR Halzen, F. (Francis)
TITLE Quarks and leptons : an introductory course in modern particle physics / Francis Halzen, Alan D. Martin.
    PUBLISHED New York : Wiley, c1984. ISBN/ISSN 0471887412 :
  • In addition, there is a large number of monographs on QCD. Here is a sample listing of some recently published books:

  • The treatment is somewhat non-standard and hence there is not much literature that is directly applicable. However, any good modern textbook on field theory (Weinberg, Lane&Peskin, Quigg...) will certainly be helpful.
