Practical Information

Date and Place of the School

The 24th European School of High-Energy Physics will be held
15 - 28 June 2016 in Skeikampen, Norway (close to Lillehammer).

The lectures and discussion sessions will take place using the conference facilities of the Thon Hotel Skeikampen where all of the participants will be accommodated.

The Thon Hotel Skeikampen has the following sports and leisure facilities: indoor swimming pool, spa (including sauna, turkish baths, etc.), gym, tennis courts, bikes and even a golf course (that can be booked at a reduced price for participants).

Accommodation

The students, teachers and organisers of the School will be lodged in the Thon Hotel Skeikampen. Students will share twin rooms with en-suite facilities. Please note that the rooms will be allocated by the Organizers, mixing students of different nationalities.

Some photographs of the hotel are shown below.

The lecture hall and the rooms for the discussion sessions are also situated in the hotel.

Breakfast, lunch and evening meals will be served in the hotel restaurant. There is a bar where participants will be able to purchase drinks in the evenings. Free wireless internet will be provided for all participants, but please note that the bandwith will be very limited and coverage may be restricted to certain public areas of the hotel.

Travel Arrangements

Students who are selected to attend the School should arrange to arrive in Skeikampen for registration during the afternoon or evening of Wednesday 15 June. The school will end on the morning of Tuesday 28 June after breakfast. The organisers will provide free bus transport from and to the airport in Oslo on the arrival and departure days; the timetable will be communicated to the participants in due course.

Cost

The cost of the School will be about 1700 Swiss Francs per student, and will cover tuition, board and lodging from dinner on Wednesday 15 June to breakfast on Tuesday 28 June 2016, as well as coffee, tea or cold drinks during the morning and afternoon breaks and some social activities. The fee does not include travel expenses from participants' home institutes to Skeikampen and back.

For participants from some JINR Member States there may be special arrangements for paying the School Fee and for travel. For further information, please contact the JINR Organizing Secretary, Mrs. T. Donskova (see Enquires and Correspondence).

Details concerning the method of payment of the fee will be sent to the selected students.

Language

The working language of the School will be English. Participants must therefore have a good understanding of English to enable them to benefit from the School.

Proceedings

The School Proceedings will be published as a CERN Yellow Report in 2017. Each participant may receive one copy free of charge. Proceedings from earlier schools are available (see Previous Schools).
