Date and Place of the School
The 6th CERN – Latin-American School of High-Energy Physics will be held from 23 March to 5 April 2011 in Natal on the Northeast coast of Brazil. All the participants will be housed in the Hotel Porto do Mar that also provides the conference facilities for the lectures and discussion sessions. The hotel has sports and leisure facilities that will be available to the participants, including a swimming pool and a games room. A path leads from the hotel to a local beach just a few minutes walk away.

Accommodation
The students, faculty and staff of the School will be lodged in the Hotel Porto do Mar. Students will share twin rooms with toilets and shower rooms. A photograph of the hotel complex (buildings with red roofs) is shown below.
The lecture hall and the rooms for the discussion sessions are situated in the hotel complex.
Breakfast, lunch and evening meals will be served in the restaurant of the hotel. There is a bar where participants will be able to purchase drinks in the evenings.
Travel Arrangements
Students who are selected to attend the School should arrange to arrive in Natal for registration during the afternoon or evening of Wednesday 23 March 2011. The school will end on the morning of Tuesday 5 April after breakfast.
On the day of arrival a pick-up service will be organized between Natal Augusto Severo Airport (airport code NAT) and Hotel Porto do Mar. Note that students should not make firm bookings for travel to the school before they have been accepted, and travel details for funded students must be agreed in advance by the School organizers.
Cost
The cost of the School will be CHF 1000 per student, and will cover tuition, board and lodging from dinner on Wednesday 23 March to breakfast on Tuesday 5 April 2011, as well as coffee, tea or cold drinks during the morning and afternoon breaks, in addition to some social activities. The fee does not include travel expenses from participants' home institutes to Natal and back, visa fees (where required) or the cost of insurance covering illness and accidents that is required for all participants.
Thanks to support from funding bodies in Brazil, in addition to CERN and CIEMAT, it will be possible to fully or partly cover the school fees and/or travel expenses for some of the Latin-American students who otherwise would not be able to attend the School. However, since the central funds are limited, we hope and expect that a majority of the institutes will be able to cover, fully or at least partially, the expenses of their students. This will allow the School to contribute the fees and/or travel costs for the largest possible number of Latin American students who are not able to obtain full financial support from their home institutes. Comments on the need for financial support should be given at the end of the application form.
Students who are not from Latin America are normally expected to have the school fees and travel cost covered fully by their institutes, although exceptions could be made for well-motivated cases from developing countries outside of Latin America.
Details concerning the method of payment of the fees will be sent together with the acceptance letters. At the same time, funded students will be informed of the procedures to be followed for making travel arrangements and applying for visas (where required).
Language
The working language of the School will be English. Participants must therefore have a good understanding of English to enable them to benefit from the School.
Proceedings
The School Proceedings will be published as a CERN Yellow Report. Each participant is entitled to one copy free of charge (on request). Proceedings from earlier schools are available (see Previous Schools).
